What should I do if I return a damaged vehicle?

Declaring the incident:

If an incident occurs with your motorcycle, the first step is to stay calm. Take a break if necessary and avoid getting back on the road right away if you feel your focus is not at its best.

Once your rental is over, you will be asked to return to the rental location to hand back the vehicle. Just like at the beginning of the rental, a final inspection will be carried out with the rental partner. We encourage transparency and courteous communication to help resolve the situation more smoothly.

After the final inspection, be sure to keep your copy of the rental agreement, which serves as your carbon copy. We also recommend taking photos of the damage, as this will help document the condition of the vehicle.

Procedure process:

Renter’s responsibility

When damage occurs to a rented motorcycle, it's important to understand the responsibilities outlined in the rental contract. As the renter, you are responsible for the vehicle during the entire rental period. This means you agree to return the motorcycle in the same condition it was in when it was handed over to you. If not, the rental partner may request compensation for the damage caused during your rental.

Damage compensation process

Regarding damage compensation, two scenarios may occur:

  • Scenario 1: If the repair costs are less than the deposit amount, the deposit may be used to cover the repair costs. The rental partner may also offer you the option to pay for the damages directly at the end of the rental to speed up the process.
  • Scenario 2: If the repair costs exceed the deposit amount, the full deposit will be withheld to cover the damage. In this case, an insurance claim will be filed, but you will still be responsible for the insurance deductible, which is equal to the deposit amount. This means you will be required to pay this deductible, in addition to any extra identified costs.

In case of a dispute

Disagreements can happen... We encourage you to maintain polite and respectful communication to help resolve the issue in the best possible conditions.

We also recommend reporting any damage as soon as you return to the rental partner. This will demonstrate your honesty. Hiding damage to the vehicle can lead to complications and make the conversation more difficult. By following these steps and taking a proactive approach, you will help ensure a fast and efficient resolution.

It is also important to understand each party's position. For the rental partner, any damage to the vehicle represents a loss in value. They are entitled to request compensation to offset this loss.

If any misunderstandings or disputes arise, Easy Renter remains at your disposal. We currently provide a contact form to address any questions and support you throughout this process.
